Big question

When the platform can write the ad and choose who sees it, what stays human?

Reviewed 5 September 2026Recorded movements 0

The position

Keep substantiation, rights clearance, disclosure and the approval record human. The platform's report is downstream of the platform's decision, so it cannot check that decision, and the duty to be truthful falls on the advertiser rather than on the tool.

Why it is live

The same company now generates the asset, picks the audience, decides the delivery and grades the result, so the brand's only real control is what it refuses to hand over. TikTok shipped complete social video variants through Symphony in October 2025, and the IAB updated its AI transparency and accountability framework on 18 August 2026.

The case for delegating more

InferredRanking systems predict reactions better than a planner does, and asset volume is no longer the constraint on anything.

The case against

DocumentedNo platform publishes what its allocator rejected, so no report grades the decision, and no platform will answer a regulator on your behalf for a claim in your advertisement.

Where the weight sits

Firmly against delegating anything somebody has to answer for. Delegate delivery, keep claims, rights and disclosure.

Evidence DocumentedAgreement Real disagreement. Credible people disagree, and it is not a misunderstandingState Live. Being tracked, and moving

What would change this

A platform publishing, for one account, what its allocator rejected and what that allocation would have produced, or a regulator naming the platform rather than the advertiser as the disclosing party.
